This book is about the people of Germany in the 20th Century, looking in particular at their culture and the actions that came from that culture. Throughout the text the authors have incorporated a German perspective on the events discussed. The text addresses both achievement objectives at Level 5 of Culture and Heritage and Time, Continuity and Change within the setting of Europe. In an easy narrative style, the book begins with a broad survey of life in Germany prior to the 20th Century in order to help students understand how culture and heritage can play a part in shaping people and events. During the 20th Century, the German people experienced enormous social, political and economic changes and these changes are discussed in the chapters that follow.
