The New Zealand Tourism Industry is designed for use in travel and tourism courses which incorporate unit standards developed by the Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation (ATTTO). In particular, it aims to satisfy the learning outcome requirements of Unit Standard 18238 -'?Demonstrate knowledge of the tourism industry in New Zealand.' In a very accessible way, the text introduces students to: terms and concepts that are used in the New Zealand tourism industry; the structure of the New Zealand tourism industry and its main sectors: transportation, accommodation, attractions and activities, and sales; the role of each sector and the interrelationships between industry participants ; New Zealand's main domestic and overseas tourism markets; typical industry career paths, position pro?les, education and training needs. Each chapter contains a number of exercises for students to apply their knowledge. This is an ATTTO-recommended text for students studying National Certi?cate programmes. An ATTTO-developed tutor manual is also available (through ATTTO). It contains answers to exercises within this book, as well as suggestions for additional resources and classroom activities.
